ARTIST STATEMENT

“I am in the mood to dissolve in the sky” Virginia Woolf

The delight and joy I  find in working with the expressive qualities of colour plays the most significant part in all that I paint. In this time of isolation, and being even more impacted by the subtle healing presence of nature, I have been able to  find new delight in my constant love of light and colour. Whether it’s the silver light of Protea leaves, or the silken shimmer of a tidal pool, my salvation in this time of constraints has been to disappear into the ephemeral beauty of nature. I begin to feel as if I am very much part of the very air that is around me, and aspire to express this delicate yet powerful feeling in my paintings.
